This design is a background for a science fiction TV series.

The purpose is to create a toad's living environment, which is moist, dark and mysterious.

In this scene, the client requests a high-quality cave that not only replicates a toad's environment but also serves as a fighting stage. The cave should have a dark ambiance, a humid atmosphere, and a complex structure, as the main character will battle a giant toad.

To achieve this, I studied the characteristics of toad’s habitats to understand their natural environments and behaviors. Additionally, I adjusted various rock formations and plant species to create a more realistic setting for the toads.

The scene is extensive and features a complex structure with diverse plant life, which may significantly impact computer performance and processing speed.

The scene must be designed to closely resemble realistic environments.

Budget Constraints

The project is limited to two workers who are expected to complete the scene within one month.

Designing Process

First of all, I focused on the whole stage which will be a fight stage, it also a main basic foundation in this scene.

Second, I started to design the rock. My stratagy is using different types of rocks and plants to build the whole scence. The main purpose is to reduce file size and increase computer speed.

Third, I use the instance tool that refers to features and techniques used to create instances of objects. That are duplicates of an original object that share the same geometry data. And makes them more efficient in terms of memory usage.

Fourth, find the PBR material and organize them to look similar, but also have different moisture levels to increase detail in the entire scene.

The last step is combine different prop such as plants, leaves, and vine.

Result & Conclusion


Due to the productive file management, the computer's speed has increased by approximately 60%. This project not only presented challenges with its complex structure but also required seamless integration with the real-world site.

Additionally, effective time management plays a crucial role. Achieving maximum efficiency within a limited timeframe remains one of my primary objectives.

In this scene, I used Geometry Nodes to create the environment. Geometry Nodes helped reduce the file size and build the scene quickly. It took me approximately two weeks to complete this detailed and realistic scene using just a laptop.
